It’s been a while

Wow. It has been a while. My excuse is facebook addiction. The problem with facebook is that your status has to be less than the amount of words I want to write. I want to log these crazy days because I will never remember the details. While I am so preoccupied with David only being two years away from leaving (and all of the emotions that go with a 16 year old) I may not remember how fantastic some of these moments can be. So here I will try again.
I haven’t knit for a long while…I had thumb surgery…a glomus tumor….removed Nov. 30th. The little crapper hurt like a son of a gun. It was the size of a pea and of couse totally benign. Thank You Lord. My thumb was totally sensitive to hot and cold, throbbed during the night, and if I hit it the right way I would really use some bad words. Anyway it was hard to knit with that thing in there and then harder to knit with it our and healing. So I am excited to start again. I have lots on the needles and lots of ideas. I want to make an aran style scarf..and I want to try to make muklucks. They look so cool. I have a prayer shawl I need to finish up but I am excited.
Yesterday was the first day of racing for my kids. They all did really well. No DQ’s, Sarah had a near face plant experience and finished amazingly well. Other than the bird seed and dog food in my boots (mouse poop here too). It felt great to be outside and the sun was shining. If anyone wonders where we will be try sunburst during the week and local race cources on Sasturdays. We would love to see you there any buy you some hot chocolate (with peppermint schnaps).
Finally, we spent the holidays with Brads parents and sister and family. We had a great time relaxing on the beach. David and Laura took their dive course so they are official divers now. I am so excited for them. Laura makes me so proud. I could never go down deep. I would panic for sure and die. Here are some pics of our trip

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

Closing camp is never fun..but this year appears to be quite a headache.
First of all the guests are leaving on the 28th and so is my help. This was not a wise decision. To make things worse I have to leave a day later to get the kids back to school. Usually they go home earlier but this year we didn’t have room on the planes to send them home. They all want to start on the first day. I need about a week to close up and then I could bring them home but now I have to blast them home early. whine whine whine. I do need to get over myself. It will be hell but in 2 weeks it will be over.
The weather looks like I may be doing the laundry next spring….unseasonably cold 60′s and rain. comforters, sleeping bags and pillows will not ever dry in this weather.

Let’s look to the future. Next year David will have a licsense…would I let him take himself and some kids home. Hell no. At least when he goes to college he won’t have to come home by the 24th. He will have to sign up for a school that starts after Labor Day no matter what.

My main decision I need to make is do I want to drive 14 hours home with 3 kids and a dog or do I want to spend $1000. that we didn’t make this summer and fly home. (willow goes with the truck) Neither option is good but what should I do?

7 days off

Due to a last minute cancellation I have a week off. If the weather is nice I will be very happy. If the weather is cold and rainy I will be inside watching the food network and knitting entire ensembles for all of my family and friends.

We have a fun group in now with women and kids (we actually get mostly guys) that we are going to fish with today (if it doesn’t rain).

I am excited that I only have to cook for 10 people this week. Nothing fancy for my family and the staff just lots of grilling.  Brad can probably fry some fish a couple of times so I can knit more.
